Note

If you’re unsure about anything, please don’t worry — I’m always happy to guide you before you send your quilt. My goal is to achieve the best possible result while respecting the time and love you’ve put into your work.

Important Note About Quilt Preparation

When your quilt arrives, I measure it carefully to assess how it has been constructed and to identify any fullness that may need easing during quilting.

My aim is always to achieve the best possible finish. Where needed, I will square the quilt to the smallest measurement to help reduce puckering and ensure a smooth result.

Border measuring and sewing tips

Borders that are sewn on and then trimmed to size can sometimes create excess fullness.

For best results, measure your quilt top through the centre and along both edges. Add the three measurements together and divide by three to find the average length. Cut your border strips to this average measurement.

Pin the border at each end and at the centre, then gently ease the fabric evenly between those points. Repeat the same process for the width of the quilt.

For example:
If your three length measurements total 244.5", divide by three to get 81.5". Cut both side borders to 81.5".
If your three width measurements total 214.5", divide by three to get 71.5". Cut both top and bottom borders to 71.5".

Using this method helps prevent waviness and allows your quilt to sit flat and beautifully once quilted.
